Rockview College — Careers & Guidance
Empowering futures, discovering limitless possibilities — Like Dust We Rise
“Whatever your hand finds to do — build, teach, heal, design — do it with all your might, for the Rock of Ages is your foundation.”
(Inspired from Ecclesiastes 9:10)
Welcome to the Careers & Guidance Hub
At Rockview College, we believe every learner is uniquely gifted and divinely equipped to make a difference in the world. We do not judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, nor a tortoise by its speed in the 100m dash. Instead, we celebrate the diversity of talents, the depth of dreams, and the destiny within each child.
Our CAPS-aligned curriculum, enriched with practical subjects, digital skills, and spiritual grounding, opens doors to careers that shape communities, build nations, and transform lives.

STEM vs STEAM vs STREAM — Comparison
We use STREAM to emphasise that solving big problems requires both knowledge and values — science, technology and math united with reading, religion/writing, engineering and the arts.
| Feature | STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) |
STEAM (adds the Arts) |
STREAM (adds Reading/Religion/Writing & Ethics) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Innovation | Provides experiential learning within science, technology, engineering, and mathematics; innovation is strong but may be narrower in human-centred context. | Encourages boundless innovation by integrating arts — design thinking and aesthetics broaden technological solutions. | Promotes innovation shaped by ethical, cultural and communication lenses — solutions are technically sound and socially responsible. |
| Perspective | Emphasizes technical skills and analytical perspective, often focused on measurable outcomes. | Enhances empathy and social perspective by using arts to understand human contexts. | Adds literacy, moral reasoning and cultural sensitivity — ensuring solutions consider meaning, purpose and values. |
| Creativity | Practices problem-solving with a strong logic focus; creative aspects can be limited. | Promotes creativity deliberately — strengthening problem-solving with artistic approaches and prototyping. | Fuses creative imagination with narrative, reflection and ethical critique to create richer, human-centred solutions. |
| Critical Thinking | Develops deep content knowledge and higher-level thinking through hands-on experiments and analysis. | Develops critical thinking by combining analytical skills with creative synthesis and design evaluation. | Deepens critical thinking with ethical questioning, textual analysis and reflective practice — preparing learners to interrogate both means and ends. |
| Collaboration | Encourages teamwork but can emphasise individual technical roles. | Promotes collaborative studio-style work and interdisciplinary teams. | Positions collaboration across values, communication and disciplinary boundaries — collaborative problem solving that includes community voices. |
| Passion | Nurtures a passion for technology, research and discovery from an early age. | Encourages passion through broader creative engagement — arts + tech spark lasting curiosity. | Ignites passion grounded in purpose and service — connecting technical skill to vocation, faith, and civic responsibility. |
| Imagination | Often focused on technical imagination — what systems can do. | Cultivates wider imagination by integrating artistic narrative and visualisation. | Expands imagination to include moral imagination, storytelling, and culturally aware futures planning. |
| Skills | Focuses on hard technical skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. | Combines technical skills with creative, communication and design skills (hard + soft). | Combines technical, creative, literacy, ethical reasoning and communication skills — comprehensive readiness for complex real-world problems. |
Why this matters: In the current world and the future, solving complex problems is a collective effort. STREAM recognises that the best, most humane solutions emerge when technical expertise meets creativity, clear communication and ethical reflection.
